Tennessee Annual Conference: Third Check-Up Meeting
We're back home after a blessed and productive weekend with the Tennessee Annual Conference in our Third Check-Up Meeting. We were superbly hosted by Reverend Tiki Dixon and the wonderful members of the Saint Mark A.M.E. Zion Church in Athens, Tennessee. This pastor and congregation have gone through much this conference year, having lost their building and a beloved church member to arson and homicide, yet they insisted on hosting us and what a time we had. We're thankful to the Keith United Methodist Church for allowing the Saint Mark Church to have space in their building.
We spent our Sunday sharing Word and Sacrament with Dr. Richard Mawuli Gadzekpo and the beautiful people of the Cleage-Thompkins United AME Zion Church in Chattanooga. We experienced an outpouring of God's presence as we celebrated Transfiguration Sunday in preparation for Ash Wednesday. An added treat was to reconnect with a lady I had not seen in years, Sis. LaFonda McGee. Sister McGee is a longstanding fixture in the Tennessee Conference who served for years in Christian Education and the Lay Council. I am pleased to be her bishop and we had a great time catching up.
We finished the day celebrating with Reverend Hugh Dixson and the good people of Lane Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church as they burned the mortgage on their church. The worship was rich and the fellowship was meaningful.
God gets ALL the glory! We're grateful for the opportunity to serve God's people.
