Saint Louis: Adversely impacted by a fierce tornado
Please pray for St. Louis

Message from Bishop Daran H. Mitchell
Following the Tornado Impact in Saint Louis
Grace and Peace Beloved,
As you probably know by now, Saint Louis was adversely impacted by a fierce tornado yesterday. There are some fatalities as well as major physical damage throughout the city. Reverend Lynn and I, along with Dr. William L. Johnson III (pastor of Washington Metropolitan A.M.E. Zion Church in St. Louis), are overseas sharing in the work of the Trinidad & Tobago Annual Conference. I am very grateful to my colleague and classmate, Bishop Anthony Witherspoon (former pastor and Bishop in Residence), for alerting us and providing coverage and care. We are also grateful to local church members who have been looking out for one another in our absence.
At this time, we ask everyone to join us in fervent prayer for those affected by this tragedy. We are thankful to God for sparing the lives of many and pray He comforts those who are grieving the loss of loved ones. Our hearts go out to the families of the victims.
We also stand ready to support our community in any way possible. If you or your loved ones have been impacted, please reach out to your local church family or our district office for assistance. In the meantime, please heed all safety instructions from local authorities, and remember to check on one another.
Rev. Lynn and I will return home as soon as possible. Thank you for the calls and messages of concern — they are much appreciated. We are grateful for the spirit of unity and care that is evident among the people of God during this time. May the grace of God continue to cover you and the city of St. Louis as we recover together.
In His Service,
Bishop Daran H. Mitchell
